Vanessa keeps us all organized, on track and moving forward as a unified team so that we can all perform our roles in the utmost care of our patients. From managing the business side of our practice to working alongside Dr. Dahlstrom on patients, at any time you may find her literally all over the office. Vanessa began her dental training at Camosun College over 20 years ago and continues to better her knowledge at every opportunity. She brings experience from jobs in other areas of health care, but dental is where she has found her calling, working with Dr. Dahlstrom when she graduated from UBC in June 2000. Vanessa works hard to help you understand all aspects of your treatment plan, your dental benefits - for those who have them, and everything else you may want to know about our practice.
Vanessa's favorite local hiking spot: Stony Hill
Ali is one of our certified dental assistants and has been a part of our team since March 2018. She graduated from Camosun College in 2010 and has since done extra training at UBC. She worked in an orthodontist office in Victoria for 3 years before moving back to the Cowichan Valley. Besides her duties as a CDA, Ali is our designated infection control officer and keeps the office organized and running smoothly. Outside of dental assisting Ali enjoys hiking, gardening, spending time with her cats (Piper and Jasper) and anything coconut flavored.
Favorite local hiking spot: Maple Mountain
Olivia is one of our registered dental hygienists and has been a part of our team since September 2018. She graduated from the dental hygiene program at Camosun College in the spring of 2018. Olivia brings a positive attitude and cheerful disposition to work every day. She is dedicated to providing a personalized care plan to meet the individual needs of each patient. Outside of dental hygiene Olivia loves spending time with her dog (Podrick), hiking, and exploring Vancouver Island.
Favorite local hiking spot: Mt. Tzouhalem (the Properties way)
Sandy is one of our certified dental assistants and has been a part of our team since September 2019. She did her training at the University of Fraser Valley in 1988 and has 32 years of experience as a CDA. Sandy has done her prosthodontic and assisting with moderate sedation module. She is a team player that makes patients feel comfortable in the chair. Outside of dental assisting, Sandy enjoys gardening, reading, going for walks and visiting her children and grandchildren on the mainland.
